Emirates Golf Club

A world-class golf club, and venue of the PGA European Sanctioned event, Dubai Desert Classic, the Emirates Golf Club is home of the first grass course in the Middle East.
There are two courses – the Maglis Course, and the Wadi course.
The Maglis Championship Course is a challenging par 72, 7185-yard layout.
Sculptured around the original tall desert dunes, The Majlis was the first grass course in the Middle East. The name Majlis means “the meeting place” in Arabic. One of its most challenging holes is the par 4, 434 yard, dogleg 8th. It requires a long well directed, up-hill drive to leave a reasonable second shot to its small undulating green where the dreaded 3-putt is always a threat. This course – also known as “miracle in the desert”, is wonderfully landscaped with flowers and plants and has meandering fairways and seven fresh and saltwater lakes. The Majlis has developed a worthy reputation worldwide as a testing layout, which has proved popular with the World’s best players returning again and again.
Emirates Golf Club hosts the Peter Cowen Golf Academy – a great place to improve your golf or to learn the game as a beginner.

Dubai Creek Yacht and Golf Club

Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club has attracted considerable international attention since its opening in January 1993. Situated in the heart of the city, just minutes from Dubai International Airport, the Creek Club is a modern landmark with its distinctive clubhouse - voted "Best Clubhouse" in Golf World's "Best of the Best" Awards - and its rolling green fairways on the shores of Dubai's other Creek, the saltwater inlet that gives the city much of its character.
Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club has closed its golf operation for a year, from December 2003. The golf course, Par 3 course and practice range will be re-designed as part of a major re-development which will include a luxury hotel and villas.
The golf course will feature nine new holes which will form the new front nine, with rebuilding work carried out on the existing back nine holes. The design work for the golf course is being undertaken by European Golf Design in conjunction with Thomas Bjorn, Dubai Golf Tour Professional and winner of Dubai Desert Classic in 2001, as seen above in the photographs, with course designers and management of the club, checking progress on the new course.
The golf course will re-open for play on December 1st 2004. In addition there will be 92 executive villas located within the development. These homes will be available for rent and are due for completion in December 2004.
The entire resort will be completed by mid 2005 when a luxury 238 bedroom hotel is due for completion. The hotel will feature several restaurants, conference and banqueting facilities, as well as a health spa.
Throughout the construction period, the Yacht Club and Marina will remain fully operational, enabling guests to continue enjoy the Boardwalk, Aquarium and QD's (Please note QD's will close during the summer months). The main clubhouse will close temporarily until Autumn 2004. Golfers will be pleased to know that the Creek Golf Professionals will be continuing to teach at Emirates Golf Club in the meantime.
