DUBAI WORLD CUP
The Dubai World Cup is an annual horse racing event that started in 1996 and is held at the Nad Al Sheba race course. The race happens at the end of March, and is acclaimed as the world championship for thoroughbreds over a distance of 2000m (10 furlongs) and stands alone at the summit of international horse racing. Its prize-money makes it the richest horse race in the world.
The Nad Al Sheba racecourse is 15 minutes from Dubai city, and is a 2.2 kilometres left handed dirt track which was first laid out in 1986 and resurfaced in 1997 before the Dubai World Cup 98.
